Get involved
Our intention is to register a community right to buy the harbour under Part 2 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. Funding for buy-outs is available from a range of sources and there are many examples around the country of local communities becoming landowners via this route. It does not depend on the public having to put their hands in their pockets.
We need to grow the membership of the Trust to ensure a community consensus as to how we develop the area once we are in possession of it. If you’re yet to join, please consider doing so and help shape the way ahead, to take another step in the march for open access to, and the sustainable development of the site.
Membership is free and carries no obligations, but gives you a say in how the land and harbour could be used as a fantastic community resource (please note that signing any of the earlier petitions did not constitute an application for membership.)
Ultimately the success of the Trust depends on its membership. We already have a whole raft of ideas and we’re looking for more members to contribute their own suggestions. We also need a Treasurer with financial skills and a Membership Secretary with experience of databases.
